In 1976 when pâté was virtually a foreign word to most New Zealanders a small production kitchen in Auckland was producing pâté for restaurants and delicatessens. In 1978 Earl and Jo Meek were looking for a business and great tasting gourmet food appeared to be an area with a distinct future. They entered into a partnership with the owners of the small production unit and so La Bonne Cuisine was born.
Production has since moved to state-of-the-art premises in East Tamaki, where La Bonne Cuisine produces a wide range of products including hummus, chunky dip, pâté, and salami, under the brands: The Good Taste Co™., Mediterranean™, Gourmet Pâté™, Master Chef®, Breton®, and Little Ripper®.
In 2008, La Bonne Cuisine Ltd was acquired by Heinz Wattie's Ltd and continues to run on a philosophy of sourcing the best quality ingredients from New Zealand and around the world and delivering to New Zealanders great tasting premium quality products.
